Garden of the GOD (We know there's only ONE)

We are enjoying our last night at Cherry Creek State Park.  They only allow us to stay 15 days out a month and our time is up.  In the morning we will move back over in front of Tana's house and try to get through the weekend before we head down the road.  It still looks like we'll roll on down to Texas.
We have had a busy, but fun time the past couple of days. Wed morning we stopped in to see Craig's oldest brother, Chuck and his wife, Pudge.  We enjoyed visiting and catching up and it was a gorgeous day on their lovely back porch.

After our visit we went to Tana's to help install the garage door opener that replaced the one that wasn't working.

Tana's family dogs, Mocha and Sammy.

We were treated to a wonderful dinner at Mike and Anita's home in Parker.  It was SO delicious and the conversation was fun, too!!  Thanks for the wonderful evening.

This morning we drove back down to Denver to try to finish the VA   ID process.  That went no where as the clerk didn't properly submit the paperwork, so we'll have to go to another VA someday to get that taken care of.
Carter had his Cross Country Meet in Colorado Springs.  It's about an hour down the road from Aurora.

It was a pretty day today.

We had some time before the meet and we hadn't been to Garden of the GOD for a long time and we wanted to get in a walk.  Here's some pictures that I took

I learned some History about the Park today.

In 1879, Charles Elliott Perkins, a friend of William Jackson Palmer, purchased 480 acres of land that included a portion of the present Garden of the Gods. Upon Perkins' death, his family gave the land to the City of Colorado Springs in 1909, with the provision that it would be a free public park. Palmer had owned the Rock Ledge Ranch and upon his death it was donated to the city.[5]
Helen Hunt Jackson wrote of the park, "You wind among rocks of every conceivable and inconceivable shape and size... all bright red, all motionless and silent, with a strange look of having been just stopped and held back in the very climax of some supernatural catastrophe."[6]
Having purchased additional surrounding land, the City of Colorado Springs' park grew to 1,364 acres. In 1995 the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center was opened just outside of the park.[5]

Climbing like this doesn't seem like a good idea.

This formation is called, "Three Graces".

We had some trouble finding the Park where the Cross Country Meet was being held, but we  made it just in time to see Carter and then the start of the race.

Getting ready to go.
And they're off!!

Carter is standing in the middle of this group of his Cross Country Team.

After the meet Grandpa Craig and Carter trying to decide what to order at Applebees.

Blessings,
