Eastern to Mountain

We kept driving from the Eastern time zone in Indiana, through Central time in Missouri and Kansas and then to Mountain time in Colorado.

East Kansas is very flat and perfect for farming.

It was good to see this sign after over 1,000 miles.  I made the comment already on Facebook that I always thought it strange that a sign that says, "Welcome to Colorful Colorado" would be brown instead of some lively colors.... maybe like fall aspen leaves.  Just a hint there to the powers that be.

We stayed at a little RV Camp call Shady Grove in Seibert, CO.  I think it has the only patch of grass for 200 miles.  We cleaned and waxed one side of the Whale this morning and then decided to travel the last 130 miles into Aurora, CO.

When we see the Rocky mountains as we get closer to Denver, we always think about the Pioneers in their covered wagons and realize why Denver became a city for those who decided not to try to navigate over them to the Gold Mines of California.

We called ahead to Cherry Creek State Park to see if they had any spots for a couple of nights.  Our reservations don't really start until Sunday.  They said they could take us in, but we'll have to get our name on a waiting list at 8 am to see if we will be able to stay here again Thursday night.  The Park is all book up for the weekend, so we may have to move out until Sunday.
We have one of our favorite spots in the shade.  It was in the 90's here today, but tomorrow will only be in the 70's.  That's perfect weather as far as I am concerned.  We may get some rain, too.

There is a large reservoir here in the park that looks so pretty and blue.

We got set up and then drove over to Tana's house to see the family.  We took a long hot roomy shower there and greeted the kids as they came in from school and then shopped for a few groceries and came back to the Whale for some dinner.  Collin was having a football scrimmage game just on the other side of the lake from us, so we drove through the park and watched him play.  The sky was pretty tonight.

We will be here for at least two weeks and have many to see and sports to attend, so it may be awhile before I get back to the blog.
Hope you're enjoying the last of the summer days.

Blessings,
Kathy
