It's been a good day!
I started off the day with coffee and a wonderful visit with a good friend. We got caught up on what has been happening in each other's lives. There is something very beneficial from women doing that together!!
Craig put up a shelf for me in the Whale and then tackled the heater problem that we have had since the day we bought the Jayco RV. When we bought it, we were told that the heater door in the cab of the truck chassis that our home rides on, didn't work and so we would not be able to get heat going down the road. And we didn't and haven't through all of the cold weather and long drives that we made. I could cover up with a blanket and "get by", but that's not how you like to ride down the road. SO, Craig has worked and researched and asked people about how to make this work and mostly he received answers that indicated that there was no easy way to do it. IT WAS NOT EASY. In fact, I'm not sure it was possible. But, Craig persisted and kept researching and working on the problem. At first he thought it was the heater door actuator not closing the heater door (which is buried up under the passenger side air bag under the dash).
The white piece is the Actuator and it goes into the whole on the heater door. Today, Craig just cut out the door to take a look at what could be the issue. He found it. The "goes into hole" is BROKEN.

The white actuator (turns to open and close the heater door).
We went back to the auto parts store and bought a new door. Craig was told that you can't get it in without taking out the dash. That just wasn't going to happen.
I got my haircut this afternoon and then we had a nice steak dinner with Tana's family. Craig now had a part and an idea of what to do, so he was looking forward to getting home and trying out his idea.
He decided to cut the new one and put it in in pieces. A little silicone glue, a little duct tape and putting it all back together again AND WE HAVE HEAT!!! Thanks be to God!!!
Yes, he could actually put the tools away that have been out with everything torn apart since we got back to Colorado last week.
What a huge relief and again we are so thankful to have that all behind us. We may never have to use the heater, but at least we know it's there if we need it.
Oh, in between things today, we also Polished half of the Whale today.
Craig worked high and I worked low. Maybe we'll work on the other half tomorrow, but they are also saying we may get some rain. We also need to see if we will be able to stay here at Cherry Creek State Park for a few more days, or if we'll have to move out because they are full of people who are coming in with reservation. We can park back out in front of Tana's if we need to. It will be another full day, I'm sure.
Retirement?
Spouting off.
