Colorful Colorado from Albuquerque

We pulled out of Albuquerque this morning and headed north on
I 25.  It's amazing how much wide open country there is.
We headed east on I 40 for 9 miles before turning north on I 40.

The mountains looked majestic today.

It was good to see Denver listed on a sign.

There is a Las Vegas, New Mexico that we passed through.

When we got to Sante Fe, NM, we made a little jog to avoid going over a very large and snow capped mountain.  It's a very pretty area.

We drop out of the mountain pass around Sante Fe and it flattens out to plains.  We always think about pioneers going over this country in covered wagons, or walking.  They were some tough people.

The clouds started to roll in and we were trying to get over the Raton Pass before it turned to snow.

Coming in to the Raton, NM area

The Whale did a great job wniding up the pass.

It started to sprinkle and we realized that we hadn't tested the window wipers.  Thankfully, they worked because it started to rain.

Then, we got some splash back

New Mexico turns into Colorado.  It was warm enough that the roads weren't slippery, but we did get some large "flake" drops on the windows.

There is such a contrast in the landscape.  Why do you suppose the Lord put this little rock hill here?

Then, the sun returned and all was good.

Our two week reservation in Cherry Creek State Park in Aurora, CO doesn't start until April 22, so we found a nice park around Pueble/Canon City to stay in.  We may stay here for two nights.

The Pot Pie dinners tonight were provided by Al and Sandy.  Thanks, they were wonderful!

The gorgeous sunset was provided by the LORD!
Thanks, for a great ending to the day.

We had such peace and joy as we drove down the road today.  We could feel the prayers.  Thanks to you!

Blessings,
Kathy
