We drove 160 miles south today to the town of Livingston, Texas. It was a pretty drive through the rolling hills of the country on route 19.
It appears that they have had more rain down this far in Texas and Lake Livingston is nearly full. It's a huge lake of 90,000 acres. Cedar Creek Lake is 32,000. We noticed lots of floating trees and not sure why there were there. We hope to drive around tomorrow to see more.
Here's where we are:
We are staying at the Escapees Park in Livingston and it's not on the lake. It's a large park that is really a retirement community.
We had a late lunch and then went out for a long walk to explore the RV Park.
I'm not sure what the above plant is, but I think the one below is a banana tree. We had one in our back yard in Florida.
This is the clubhouse and below is the pool that is still open.
The Activity Center. In this park they also allow purchasing of a lot and many people put up a more permanent home with the huge RV covers.
This Park is the Escapees Headquarters and it was built in 1978. They have kept the place up, but you can tell that it's starting to become a bit dated. They have parks throughout the south.
While we were out walking we chatted with a couple from Pennsylvania and they have joined RVICS which is Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service. We had an interesting talk and we may look more into this nondenominational organization that travels and does service projects. Is anyone familiar with them?
We are enjoying near perfect weather and pray that you are experiencing the same at this wonderful time of year.
Blessings,
Kathy
