It was a very nice drive 84 miles from NW Houston to Galveston. We were last on the Island in Sept of 2009 a year after Hurricane Ike made a huge mess of the Island.
We drove through part of Houston. It's a huge metro area but the traffic was minimal on a Sunday morning.
Just before crossing the bridge.
Things are planted again and green and most homes are rebuilt.
Coming over the bridge is a wonderful site and it's also a large port for Cruise Ships.
The pyramids in the background are Moody Gardens.
This is our campsite in the State Park. I have a great view of the ocean as I sit here typing this. I took this right our of my side window.
It's a short walk from our camp through this path to the beach.
It doesn't have the beautiful white sand like on Gulf Shores, but it's clean and the water felt fairly warm still.
You can see the Whale from the beach. We are on the end spot.
Hope the Whale doesn't get any ideas about swimming out to sea.
Trust me, I will be doing this!!!!!
Tana's family has landed in Houston and are in their rental car and on the way to their motel which is only 5 miles down the road from us. Fun days ahead!
Blessings,
Kathy
