Grand Rapids to Meet with Old Friends

It's not that Bob and Ann are "old" friends.  Ann and I have been friends since we were roommates at Indiana University for 1 1/2 years.  They live in Muncie, Indiana and we missed them while we were there, so Ann text me to say they were going to be in MN to visit family.  She came up with a great plan for us to meet for breakfast in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  I don't believe I have been there before.
We talked so fast and skipped around in our conversation so much that I did my usually thing of forgetting to snap any pictures of our visit.  So, I borrowed this nice photo from Ann's Facebook page.

Bob and Ann B.

We met at this nice place called Country Kitchen.

We did some grocery shopping while we were in a larger city getting ready for Tana and family to arrive on Sat.

On our way out of town, we notice the Pokegama Dam Recreation Area and since we didn't have to be anywhere, we stopped in.
There has been so much rain that everything is overflowing.

The Dam was built in 1884 and I found that very interesting.  There's actually wood in this.
The below shot was taken on the lower side of the dam.

This is a video taken from the walkway over the dam.

We then ventured out on a floating dock to take this video below the dam.

The winds have been pretty strong most of the afternoon, so we never got out fishing today.  They are saying we could get some evening showers for the next couple of days.

We have been asked where we are going from here.  We don't leave until July 12th.  We thought about driving over the Great Lakes into Canada and down through Michigan, but, gas prices look like they are going to keep going up, so we may shorten the trip and cut across WI to the UP and visit friends in Cadillac, MI.
In other words, we don't know, yet.  We plan to spend from two to four weeks back in Indiana for Mom's family reunion on Aug 3rd.
Mom continues to improve and heal from her fall and she drove a short distance for the first time today. We are thankful for all of your help and concern for her.  A special thanks to Cathy L. for shopping for Mom and helping her do things around the house.

Praying for everyone's safety during this stormy season.

Blessings,
Kathy
