And Then it Was June

The month has gone by quickly. We have been parked near our home town of Crown Point, Indiana.  It's been so wonderful having time with friends and family.  It's gotten harder to be away from Mom.  She had a fall outside last weekend while trying to help a boy get his bike down the stairs.  A neighbor took her to urgent care the next morning and she had a couple of staples put into the cut on the right side of her head.  The neighbor bandaged up her right elbow and they seemed satisfied that she didn't break anything.  Last night Urgent Care notified us after the Orthopedic Surgeon looked at her Xrays and she does have a small fracture in her lower pelvic bone.  She won't need surgery or a cast or even to be bedridden, thankfully.  But, she has been told to not overdo in any way.  She has already been confined to the house accept when a friend took her back to get the staples out.  That's when they did an Xray of her hip since it was very bruised.  Now she waits for a call for a follow up visit to an Orthopedic Surgeon this next week just so they can keep an eye on her progress.
She's had a bad weak and then found out yesterday that one of her Crown Point best friends passed away yesterday.  Please keep Mom and the family of Wilma S. in your prayers.
Mom has convinced me that I don't need to come down since she is able to get around the house with a lot of care, but it's going to be hard to go farther north to Minnesota knowing that she is hurting.  There are many friends and neighbors who have promised to look after her, but I don't like that she is alone.
We took the week off from doing much work and started to get ourselves and the Whale ready to head on down the road on Sunday morning.  We will take several days to make the trip and stop along the way for some visits.  We will just go to Rockford, IL tomorrow and see my cousin, Marty and his family.

We visited with Jim and Marie V and they fed us some wonderful goodies while we sat outside and enjoyed the gorgeous day and the many types of birds that visit their feeders.

Jeff and Rachel put together a wonderful meal to celebrate a "Happy Everything Everybody" Party.  Katie joined us and she wasn't too happy about being in a photo.  I didn't catch anyone at their best.  I'm sure Rachel will love the pic of her eating.  Sorry to you all!  Todd leaned right out of the shot, too.

Todd leaning left, Katie and Craig enjoying his cake.

Jeff, his daughter, Kristen and wife, Rachel.  Kara and Ty had friends over and were off doing other things already. You can see part of the new deck in the background. Before we put the finishing touches on the deck, their were 5 boys jumping into the pool already!

We'll take our time going up to MN.  My older brother and his wife live up there and one of their sons lives in Minneapolis and we hope to be able to see him, too.
I have made up some homemade Mosquito spray and we have tested it and it seems to work.  So, we are ready to do some fishing!!!  Our two sons will drive up and spend next weekend with us and then our daughter and family will be up for the last week in June.  I imagine this next month will go by quickly, also.

Hope you're having a happy summer!!!

Blessings,
Kathy
