Deming, New Mexico to Wellton, Arizona

We have arrived in our winter home in Tier Drop RV Park in Wellton, Arizona.  We weren't planning on getting in this early, but we made a last minute decision to head on in. We made trip down from Colorado in three days... nearly 1100 miles.
We woke up to some clouds, but nice weather in Deming, NM yesterday morning. That's where we turned onto I10 going west.

We were still trying to get around the wind and rain that was forecast.

We had some showers and then this rainbow.

It rained off and on and the wind blew off and on, too.

Arizona border.

And then more light rain.

We stopped at a nice rest stop to change drivers.

The traffic wasn't bad even going through Tucson.

We got to know Pat and Jim while we volunteered at Cherry Creek State Park.  They actually trained us on how to work the entrance gates.  They have a home in Arizona City and when we decided to go the southern route to avoid the snow coming in to Flagstaff, they we so kind to invite us to come by their place for lunch.  They were only 4 miles off  I10.  We so appreciated their hospitality and good food, too!!!

After we pulled away from their nice home, we turned down I8 for the final stretch into Wellton.  We had first thought we would spend the night in Casa Grande and visit my cousin, but it was too late of a notice and it didn't work out.
The weather started to turn around again and the sun broke through.

The turn off to Wellton was a wonderful sight.  Below is the little oasis in the desert.  This will be our third year coming here.  Come for a visit, we are in spot #40.

We had a great night's sleep and now need to get busy with a few things around here to clean the rain off the Whale, set up internet and put out our "patio".

Blessings,
Kathy
