Our 14 days were used up at Cherry Creek State Park and we moved 30 miles away to Chatfield State Park.
We have been in Colorado for three weeks. The grand kids finally got a night off of sports and Collin and Cooper spent the night with us in the RV. It's nice to have the extra room so this could happen.
Our daughter, Tana and her husband, Barry, wanted to get away for a few nights together. So, we took on the weather, sports and dogs and stayed with the four grand kids for three days.
Sammy and Mocha
Kyra is becoming quite an artist. She made this painting from the same design of her bedspread.
Then, there was snow, snow and more snow. Some places got 9" around Aurora. It was hard to measure because it was so heavy and wet. Craig drove out to Chatfield to check on the RV and spent the night to make sure nothing froze. A little winter wonderland in May. It did the same thing in this area last year on Mother's Day.
The weather began to warm up and it left the remains of the melting snow to decorate the Rocky Mountains for us.
The oldest, Carter (15) has a job at Chick-fil-A. Now that swim meets are over for the season, he will be working more hours. He is a handsome and tall guy.
The kids all left for school this morning and since Tana and Barry were coming back today, we headed back to the RV. We took time to get an oil change for the Honda and picked up a few things and by the time we got back, the snow was melted and the sun was out.
This is our roomy camping spot.
We spent some time cleaning out old caulk on the bedroom slide out and re-caulking in hopes of stopping the water leak that we have back there.
We also spent some time fixing the window washer on the front driver's side.
Then, we went for a walk. We had some thunder, Verge and dark clouds roll in, but only a few small drops of rain.
There's always a good side to all of the rain. The flowers around the park are beginning to bloom and I enjoyed taking their picture.
This is a large rock that marks our spot and we wondered if Al H. would know what kind it is.
Chatfield Lake is very full. It was built for flood control for the Platte River that runs right through Denver.
The sun was warm and the temperature reached 70, but the air was a bit chilly, so Craig was still wearing a long-sleeved shirt.
It was so good to be able to get outdoors and walk and enjoy the Park.
This is what Verge looks like. It's rain that falls from the cloud, but dries up before reaching the ground. We were thankful.
We have been thinking of and praying for our friends in Texas and other parts of the country that are having such terrible weather.
But, tonight, we will sleep like tired dogs. Hopefully, we won't look this strange. OK, no comments.
We are due to leave Chatfield on Friday. We aren't sure which direction we will be heading, yet.
Praying that you enjoyed your Mother's Day!
Blessings,
Kathy
