Fixin' and Repairin' the Whale

We have now owned the Whale 2.0 for two weeks.  We also have sold Whale 1.0. Like any new home you move to, we have had to do some repairs and upgrades and it's kept us pretty busy.

We built a box under the bed and braced it and also added Hydraulic lifts to help hold the bed up.  This gave us room for extra bedding and things that we couldn't find places for.

We upgraded the TV sets to flat screens.  There's one in the bedroom and one in the living area.

Al Howard helped Craig on some of the projects.  One was replacing the fuel pump on the generator.  We still need to do some work on the carburetor to get it running smoothly.  You only use the generator if you aren't plugged in to power and want to run your electrical appliances.

Another parking spot came open that has a little more shade and faces north so we don't bake in the sun all day.  It gave us some practice at packing up and backing into a tight spot.  It was good to know we can do it. The rear view camera is a big help, too.
This is our view now from our front window.

The faucets were the originals from 2002 and we decided to upgrade to single handled ones.  It was a very tight fit in the bathroom, but Craig was able to do it.

The kitchen plumbing needed a little reworking on the PEX lines and we found fittings to step them up to braided flex lines.

The first faucet we put in was marred and the copper was crimped, so we took it back and got a brushed metal single handle to match the sink.

It was another tight place to work in, but the new adapters and fitting with shut offs will be good.

We had to do some research, but we found new tracks for the inside drapery.  We got them installed and the drapes work now with ease.

Craig repaired some screens for friends so we decided to also put sunscreen on our door.

Amazon had this nice "stained glass" looking film that we putt on the door window.  It gives great privacy, but you have to beware that you don't open the door into someone standing outside. We may need to cut out a "view hole".

There was a little leak on the toilet line. We removed the toilet and discovered it was really time for a new one.  The new one is not so large and so we now have a little more room in the bathroom.  We set the old one outside and it would have made a great "outhouse"... if we had needed one.

In between the projects we try to continue to enjoy the people and the Park.  This is the entrance into Tier Drop.

I so enjoy the plants and unusual flowers.

The screen door bottom hinge was broken.  We looked everywhere for a replacement.  No such thing.  You have to buy a whole new door because it's all one piece.  Craig was able to buy a piece of steel and fabricated one that is working great.

One thing in a Motorhome that you don't want to have an issue with is low or flat tires.  The key seems to be to check them each day before going on the road.  The dualies on the rear are hard to check the inside tire.  We bought some extensions, but they are too short, so we still have a project to figure out.

A home isn't a home until you can put up a few decorations.  We hung pictures of the eight grand kids around the bedroom mirror.

Kyra made us some beautiful drawings that we also hung around the Motor home.

We continue to enjoy our Church Services and Fellowship here in the park.  This was sunset on Palm Sunday and we will have a Sunrise Service this week that we are looking forward to.

It's been in the 90's the past couple of weeks, so we enjoy late day dips in the pool.

We finally are all set up and have things fairly arranged inside and out.

We made a decision to have front shade covers put on.  During the day you can see out, but you can,t see in very well.  We'll still need to draw the inside drapes once we turn on lights.

We still have a few minor things we are working on, but we are hopeful that we are ready to move up to Las Vegas next week to spend some time with Mom.
We had a good-bye dinner with good friends we have made here, Al and Sandy.  They left this morning to return to their home in Washington.  We will so miss them.  They had two dogs, but lost one just a couple of days ago from something that bit her.  It was so sad to see them go through the loss of a "family member".  If you have ever lost a pet, you know what they are going through.  Please keep them in your prayers as they travel and return home.

It's nearly time for that cool down dip in the pool.

Blessings,
Kathy
