Arkadelphia to Montgomery Bell State Park Near Nashville
Pulling out of the Cracker Barrel where we spent Monday night, we ran into a huge traffic back up. It took over an hour to go about five miles. We think there was a big truck rolled over, but it was upright as we went past. So, that got our long travel day off to a bit of a slow start, but all went well once we got past the snarl.
The trees are just beginning to leaf out and the red bud trees are looking great. It was about 200 miles to Memphis, TN.
We left Arkansas as we crossed the Mississippi into Tennessee.
This building was once a sports arena called, "Tomb of Doom" and that's exactly what happened to it. It's now a Bass Pro Shop with a restaurant that serves alligator meat.
We traveled I 40 most of the day until we turned off onto a narrow, curvy, hilly road that led us to the Montgomery Bell State Park, 175 miles down the road from Memphis.
Dickson, TN looks like a very nice town. We we'll see more of it tomorrow. We are meeting Alice for lunch.
The State Park is very nice and we like our camping spot along the river.... as long as we aren't here during a storm. I think the next one is due to roll through on Thursday night and we may need to move on down the road before then.
The beautiful pansies in the planter have given up on me. I'll have to find something new to plant in there.
This almost looks like snow, but it's not. It was a very pleasant temp in the 70's. This is our view now.
We washed off some of the bugs we had collected on the windshield and have been relaxing since we got in.
Blessings,
Kathy
