Desert to Dessert

Last Feb we met Ron and Carolyn at Canyon Lake, Mesa, Arizona.  We have been to their home in North Salem, Indiana, twice since then.  After Christmas they piled into their Motorhome and headed down to spend some time here in Tier Drop.  Carolyn's brother, Roy and his wife Julie have a 5th Wheel and they came, too.

We have had fun, going on walks, eating, playing games, going out to eat and going for rides in the desert.

Ron and Carolyn travel with their dog, Polly.  She will wear you out playing ball.
Roy and Julie had the six of us for dinner.  They have a large 5th Wheel that is very nice and roomy.

We had a couple days with rain showers.  The temps dipped down into the 50's for highs, but the last couple of days have warmed up again and it's supposed to stay in the 70's all week.

You can see for quite a ways while walking around the valley.  It's so wonderful to see all of the green crops.

This is one of the long roads that we walk down.

The guys got into a project of fixing the seal on Ron's toilet.
I'm glad to report that all is working well again.

Below is Ron's 40' Motorhome.  It's larger than some places we have lived in and very comfortable.

We had to get passes to drive into the Barry Goldwater Range.  They drove their Jeep and we took the CR-V.

Driving in the soft sand was a bit like driving through snow, only without the fear. We started out toward Yuma and then took the Tinajas Alta Mountains trail.

Ron and Polly went off exploring for a bit.

The Saguaro Cactus stands like sentinels over the desert.

It seemed so strange to have puddles out in the desert, but we did have two days of rain.

We ended the day with a game of Catch Phrase and some dessert.

I just received word that my dad's sister, Georgia (the last remaining sibling) passed away during the night last night.  May she rest in peace and please pray for the Petrovich Family.

Blessings,
Kathy
