The Ark Encounter

We have been parked at Oak Creek Campground in Verona, KY.  This was a spot that is between the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter.  The sun finally broke through today and it was good to see.  I think it actually made it into the 60's.  The campground isn't fancy, but it has served it's purpose.

We drove 18 miles south to the Ark Encounter.  It was built by an company out of Colorado.  It was built on the Bible's story of Noah. We parked in the lot and had to ride buses for about a mile to get to the Ark. It was all built and paid for by private donations. No government funds.

The Ark is 510 feet long, 85 feet wide and 51 feet high. It has 3.3 million board feet of timber and it's now the biggest timber-framed structure in the world.
It took about 13 months to complete and it just opened last July.

The Bible doesn't tell much about the inside, so they have taken some liberty, but they made enough cages and labeled them with each KIND of animal that was brought on board.

They have long ramps that take you from one level to the next.  There will be a fourth floor yet to come.

We were fascinated by the structure and how well it was all done. Certainly worth seeing and a wonderful way to help people of all ages realize that the Bible Stories are true.
