Wickieup (not giddy-up) is actually a town we drove through yesterday as we traveled from Mom's in Las Vegas down toward Phoenix. Mom is doing great and we enjoyed our time with her.
We drove past Lake Mead and over the new bridge past Hoover Dam.
The Colorado River
The traffic came to a stand still just out of Vegas and we couldn't tell what was going on. There were lights flashing and then we saw a Helicopter take off and go right over our heads. It didn't look like an accident, but maybe a hiker that got into trouble or some kind of medical emergency. We prayed that everyone would be OK as they reopened the road and we drove on after just a few minutes of waiting.
The Taylors and Robinson's were camping in Wickenburg for the big Rodeo that was in town. They had a "smorgasbord" of food for us for lunch. We hope to meet up with them again in March. It was fun to be able to visit with them for a while and catch up on their camping stories and then we headed on down the road to Mesa, AZ.
We drove across the north side of Phoenix near Sun City. We lived in Glendale, AZ while Craig was still stationed in the USAF at Luke AFB and it's amazing to me how the area has grown!
We drove past the stadium where this year's Super Bowl was held. The traffic got a little busy going around here and I was glad that we were in the car and not in the Motorhome!
Midge and Ray are friends with us and with Mom and they are spending a month in Mesa at a nice park. We stopped in to visit with them since we didn't get to see them in Las Vegas. We had a great visit and some goodie snacks and headed on down the road to complete the loop back to Wellton, AZ and Tier Drop RV Park where we'll be until March 7th.
We drove into the sunset and on into dark as we traveled just at 500 miles for the day.
It's always fun to "go home", even if it is one on wheels.
Blessings,
Kathy
