Craig and I are in the process of getting the Whale ready to swim farther into the dessert. We spent the morning yesterday rearranging and cleaning out the bedroom/bathroom areas.
In an RV you can utilize every space, but then you have to remember where to statched the "thingamajig" when you so need it.
I've taken to heart a technique that we have learned from Craig's brother, Jim. Stuff takes up less room if you remove it from it's original package and put it into a plastic bag. When we moved out of our house last April, we had to make decisions of what we needed in the RV, even though we hadn't lived in an RV before. We probably still have many things that we haven't used, but for the most part, we have been glad to have what we brought. A very common discussion we have is, "Did we put that in storage or is it in here somewhere?"
I debated on whether or not to post the pictures that I took. It all still looks pretty messy to me, but maybe having the photos will help me to find things from my laptop before I have to get up and start digging around.
This is the Bedroom
Rearranged storage. Craig made a place for me to hang necklaces inside the door.
This is storage under the bed. On the right side in the water storage tank and the electrical box. |
We have an additional closet for hanging clothes and it has three drawers underneath.
This is the cabinet over the sink, it's amazing how much you can cram into this spot, but since we use it often, you still need to know where it is.
Storage under the sink is a bit tight and there doesn't seem to be a way to keep it neat. But, I at least know what's under there... for the most part.
Our current plan is to head about 300 miles south just outside of Yuma, AZ in Tierdrop RV Park. It's warm enough there for the Whale to escape freezing temps and have a place reserved for a month. Stop and see us if you get that far south. We will be here (Lord willing) from Jan 17 - Feb 17. We haven't ever been to this area. There's not much there, so it will be interesting.
We then hope to make it up to Phoenix for a couple of weeks to see my brother and cousin and a couple of other friends and then we have a month reserved in Verde Valley RV park near Sedona, AZ. Tana and the family are going there during spring break for a week. It's just south of the Grand Canyon and there's lots to see and do in that area. We are reserved from Mar. 6th - Apr. 6th.
Mom is adjusting to being home alone, but it will be hard to leave her. She still drives and can get herself around so this is where she wants to be for as long as she is able to care for herself. She has friends here who have promised to look after her. We won't be far away for a couple of months if she needs us to come back here.
My next post will probably be next Sat after we are settled in our new home in AZ.
We hope to be in our "place".
