Midlothian to Gun Barrel to Bonham to Arkansas

We pulled out of the RV Park in Cisco, Texas and headed a couple of hours down the road to Midlothian on March 23rd.

We met Andy and Teresa during our time in Germany.  We decided that it's been 40 years that we  have known each other.

Teresa cares for one of her grandsons while his parents work.  What a sweet boy.

We had a nice lunch with them and then went on down the road to Gun Barrel City.  We lived there for almost two years.  The road that goes through the country was under construction so it was slow going.

Blue Bonnets were just starting to break out of their winter hiding places.

Gun Barrel City is near Cedar Creek Lake.  It's 20 miles long and it was windy, so it was white capping.

We stayed in a nice Park that is right on the main drag.

We have many great friends here and we had a lovely meal with Marvin, Mary, Marilyn and Paul.

The sky looked pretty mean, but we just had a nice rain from it.

One problem I have is forgetting to take pictures of everyone that we get to see.  I certainly did that for the many other gatherings we had in Gun Barrel.  Too sad!!  Thanks to all of you that let us have a chance to see your faces and hug your necks!
These are amaryllis that are growing by Marilyn's front door!

We drove two hours up to Bonham, Texas, on March 25. There is a beautiful Park and Marina where we stayed for two nights.

Vern and Kathy had us out to their place to visit and enjoy their country living!  I met Kathy when  we both had jury duty.

Buckshot is a very friendly dog!

Sunday morning we attended church with our friend and old neighbor, Beth.  Guess what?  I didn't take a picture because we were so busy catching up, but I did find this one on her home page.

We drove by the wonderfully fun home we lived in there in Bonham.  The new owners seem to be keeping it up!
Lake Bonham needs some water and we had some of that while we were camped there, too.

What a great visit we had with John and Debbie!  They live on the lake and have been busy rebuilding their sea wall while the lake is down.  So happy to see them.

You know the saying, "Everything is big in Texas"?  These cattle should be called LONG and HUGE horn cattle.
We also visited with Brian and Lisa who drove over to the lake from Dallas.  They were our friends in Aurora, CO.  Their son also worked for us in our Hardware Store.  Do you see a photo of them, NOPE.

It was mid afternoon on Monday, the 27th and the weather was perfect, so we decided to get on down the road where we could at least have some better internet service.

We drove through Texas and across the state line into Arkansas.  We had hoped to get to an RV park, but everything was full or too expensive, so we kept driving and finally found a Cracker Barrel that let us park in their lot.

We had a good nights sleep and it's now March 28 and we hope to drive on up near Nashville and see a few friends and family there before we drive on to the Ark Experience in KY.

Blessings,
Kathy

Deming, NM to Van Horn, TX to Cisco, TX

Deming, NM to Van Horn, TX

March 21st we pulled out of Deming, NM and headed down I 10 to Van Horn, TX.

Crossed into Texas on March 21st
The drive through El Paso, was exciting because of heavy traffic and road construction.  I don't have much affection for that city.

Desert Willow RV Park in Van Horn, TX

Van Horn, TX to Cisco, TX

We pulled out of the Park and headed on down the road on March 22nd.  We had planned to stop in Baird, TX, but once we took at look at the RV Park, we decided to keep on rolling down the road.
We had stopped for a nice brunch at an IHop, so we were charged to keep going.
We started on in some rolling hills.

We took the I 20 fork off I 10
Through some flat lands of west Texas.

This plane acted like it was going to land in front of us on the highway.
The flat lands turned back into rolling hills.

Wild Country RV Park isn't well advertised, but it's a nice park up on a hill and we are settled in for the night.

It's always good to see trees after a winter of desert living.

Tomorrow we just have a two hour ride into Midlothian to see old friends of ours that we met in Germany in 1977 and have stayed in touch with over the many years.
Did I mention that we are in Cisco, TX?  It brings back a memory of a contest I won in 5th grade to be Cisco Kids partner for a day.

Oh, Poncho...... Oh, Cisco

Blessings,
Kathy
