Thank You, Thank You Very Much

We drove the Honda up to Mom's in Las Vegas on the 19th and we have had a very nice visit.  We plan to head back to the RV in Wellton, AZ in the morning.  Then, we'll drive back up to spend Christmas with her arriving at her place on the 19th and stay through the first.

We have done some projects for Mom around her condo, gone for many walks and eaten some great food while here.

Mom is looking and feeling healthy at 89. She is back walking most days (as long as it's not too cold or windy).

Mom won a dinner out at the Prime Rib Room.  Craig ordered the Prime Rib and Mom had Tenderloin Medallions and I had Pork Oscar and we all shared. Craig liked his the best!

We got out all of Mom's Christmas Decorations and had a day of setting things up for her.  Last year we really didn't decorate at all after Dad passed in Nov and we had the Memorial in Indiana in Dec.  and the year before we only put up a few things.  So, it was nice to make the house ready to celebrate Christmas.

Mom lives in a gated community and there's nice places to walk around the complex.  It's just now starting to look like fall here.

Midge and Ray had asked Mom to join them with their friends and family for Thanksgiving dinner and when they found that we were going to be here, they also invited us.  We had a wonderful meal with all of the trimmings.  Mom made pumpkin pies and a Minced Meat Pie for Ray and there was also Pecan Pie, so we had lots of goodies to eat.

Here are the two cooks in the kitchen, Midge and Ray.  What a feast they prepared for all of us.

Besides preparing a wonderful meal, he has also been working on his Christmas light display complete with Music.

Going to "Lost Wages"

We are getting into a bit of a routine here in Wellton, AZ.  We love taking long walks in the fields around the RV Park.  There's also that nice pool and hot tub.  We are reuniting with friends that we made last year and meeting new people, too.

We get our drinking water from this "well" in Coyote Wash (that's what the water runoffs are called in the desert... a Wash).  Water is very fresh and low priced at 5 gallons for 50 cents.

These are pictures of the green alfalfa fields and the paths that we are able to walk on.

The RV Park is at the far side of this picture and has the palm trees.

We woke up to this pretty sunrise and got packed and ready to go to Mom's in Las Vegas for ten days.

We attended 10 am Bible Study in the Recreation Hall.  We looked out the windows and saw the fields were being cut.  Jim (the owner) told us they are getting 10 or 11 cuttings a year.  He says he is very blessed of the Lord.

 We headed NW towards Las Vegas through Dome Valley.  The Valley is green with harvests of lettuce, alfalfa, onions, and Cabbage.  The Valley got it's name from this Dome Rock formation.

 The Army has this proving ground and once in awhile we can hear the distant sounds of them blowing up things there... even though it's several miles away from the RV Park.

Once you rise up out of Dome Valley on Route 95 north you come into the desert and the popular RV Rally and Sales grounds of Quartzite, AZ. It's known as the RV Boondocking Capital of the world.  Boondocking is a term for parking the RV in a place that doesn't have water or electricity hookups.  You live self contained in your RV.

Here's an aerial view of the town with a huge rally going on. We have heard of 100,000 RV's being in the area at one time.

We drove through interesting rock formations and a mountain range as we got close to Lake Havasu city.

It makes us feel a bit like we are home as we drove all along the Colorado River.  It's the Colorado that forms Lake Havasu, Lake Mead and Lake Powell. 

These are a dead plants, like tumbleweeds, that look like rocks in the mountains.

 

Not far from Lake Havasu City, you cross into Nevada, you can drive up the other side of the Colorado River on the California side, too,

 Here's the landscape as you drive through the desert before getting to Bullhead City and Las Vegas.

We thought this was a lake until we got closer and realized it was a huge solar panel area.

We we rolling into Las Vegas around 4pm and traffic was just starting to get busy.  Mom is on the south side of town, so we didn't have to drive through much traffic before getting to her place.

And here's the one that we came to see.

 She fed us her homemade Chicken and Noodles, we have comfy chairs to sit in and we are settled in until after Thanksgiving.

We are thankful for the time to spend with Mom. Friday will be the one year Anniversary of Dad's passing.  So, it's good to be together.
