Whale Meets Whale

This past weekend, we began the process to move from our 1998 Jayco 32' Class C into a 2002 Holiday Rambler Class A.  Craig had put up a 10' extension on the TV antennae to pull in channels from Yuma, but it all had to come down.  The parking spot we were in would no longer work for us because the new Motorhome has two slides. So we moved to another place in the park.

We found the RV on craigslist and it was located just 12 miles down the road from us.  The owners are a wonderful couple who have babied this baby for the past 13 years.  They reluctantly are giving up the RV life style and we felt so blessed that the Lord had saved this for us!
Thank you, Jim and Yvonne again for passing your Admiral "Birdie" on to us.  We will care for it!
This is the new parking spot.

They even delivered the RV to us.  You know the struggle we had with trying to decide on a new name or to keep the old "Whale" name.  We decided to stay with The Whale 2.0 since we feel we will continue to travels to points unknown and so I can continue with this blog named, Tales of the Whale.
The park allowed us to pull Whale 1.0 right up next to Whale 2.0 to make the move.  This will now be our 30th home in 44.5 years of marriage.  It actually seems more like a home since there is more living area.  It's amazing how much stuff we had stuffed into the Whale.  Maybe we should call it, The Ark?

We have been so busy going up the Whale and down the Whale trying to stay organized as we go and that has worked somewhat.
We took a needed break this morning and attended Tier Drop Park's weekly Bible Study class.  We have been working through Genesis and we have had great discussions with a really wonderful group of people.  This is a very special part of this park.  We also have church services right in the park and we have had a large attendance.  We are thankful for this time of refreshing and have been here nearly five months.

We had our first official "company" for a quick lunch today.  This is our dining table and two good friends, Al and Sandy.

Craig has found a place for some much needed rest.

I took this from the passenger captain's chair.  We still have a few things out of place until we finish finding places for them.  We have most everything moved over.  I hope to take some better daytime photos once we are better settled in. We have the Whale 1.0 up for sale and someone that will buy it if we don't get a better offer.  It will be hard to part with it, but we know this is the Lord's new provision for us and we receive it with joy!

So, from our new home to yours, we pray that you are being blessed beyond measure and we look forward to seeing you all during our travels.

Blessings,
Kathy

The Whale Upgrade

We say good-bye to our Canadian friends, Greg and Lynn.  We have so enjoyed their fellowship and their education about their country!  Safe travels friends as we know the Lord will travel with you.  Hope to see you in the not too distant future.

It's also moving day for us today.  We are moving from our Class C Whale that has been our home for two years into a Class A for more living room.  It should be here around 9 this morning.

Our grand daughter, Kyra made this wall hanging for us last year.  It will move with us.

We started packing things up yesterday.  Craig is lowering the TV antennae extension that we had up on Whale 1.0.

We have grown very fond of this home.

But, we are thankful that the Lord has blessed us with this Whale 2.0.  This will be our 30th home in 44 years of marriage.  It's amazing how much "stuff" you can stuff into a motorhome.  Today we'll get to see it all.

Let the moving begin.

Have a blessed day
Kathy

Whale 1.0 to Whale 2.0

We have lived in the Whale now for nearly two years.  We have looked for a place to buy as we have traveled across the country.  We recently came close to buying a condo in Colorado, but we just didn't have peace about doing it at this time.
We certainly hadn't planned on looking for a larger RV, but that's what we ended up doing.  I found it on the Yuma Craigslist and it is parked at another RV Park just down the road 12 miles.
This will allow us to continue to spend time with friends and family across the states and that is what's most important to us at this point in our lives.
I wasn't sure what to do about naming the new Motorhome, but because of the blog, we decided to just stay with The Whale.  It will be considered the 2.0 upgrade.
Here is the new Whale.  It's a 2002 Holiday Ramble Admiral. It has two slide outs.  I did consider calling it The Ship because of the name.  Anyway, meet the Whale.
.

The front driver's and passenger seats turn around and become part of the living area.

There's a double refrigerator or twice what I now have.

We will be getting the new Whale on Monday.  We have the old Whale up for sale and it will be a bit sad to move out, but we are very ready for a bit more living area. Not sure we will know how to act.

Thanks for all of your prayers, love and support over these past couple of years.

Blessings,
Kathy

Crazy Days of Summer... oh wait.... Winter

We have been enjoying our time in AZ.  We seem to keep busy and I forget to write a blog once in awhile.
We were walking in the desert and found one of these "pass under" places.  These are short cuts under I 8.  The Whale would NOT fit through this.

We so enjoyed the full moon.

We had a young bird visit the top of the car just outside our window.  He was learning to fly and landed on whatever was close to him.

We have been enjoying dinners with our Canadian and Washington friends.  Al and Sandy have been so generous in sharing their Park Model home and backyard with us all.  Thanks!

Wonderful Star lite skies at night followed by morning sky paintings

We even attended the wedding of our Pastor Lee to his new Bride, Yvonne. That was a fun day.

We have some changes coming into our lives.  I'll make a second post explaining.  Most of you already know.

Blessings,
Kathy

Rain Leads to Rainbows

We continue to enjoy our time here in Wellton, AZ.  The sunsets and sunrises are a pure joy to watch.

Ray gave us a secret to a new shine with a wax we purchased from Amazon.  It did a great job, but it is a bit of work to wax the whale.  We did part one day and the rest another. This was taken with our awning out, so it's a bit tough to see the shine.

The African Daisies are nearly spent.  They collect the seeds for next year.  We also put a few in a bag and we'll see where we get to plant them.

We walk everyday and enjoy walking through the paths around the hay fields.  They were turning it to dry this day while we were walking by. Craig and I would enjoy cutting fields like these!

This is the glare on the other side after we finished waxing it.  We are using a product called, "Race Glaze".

We have a great group of friends and we enjoy getting together and just visiting and getting to know each other better.  One couple is Canadian and the other from Washington.  The majority of the people here are snowbirds from those two places.  I'm sure thankful the Lord brought us together. Lynn, Greg, Craig, Al and Sandy.

Early this morning the rain began.  It was a nice gentle rain.  Then, out popped the sun and we were able to get in a nice walk and then the next round happened later this afternoon. We got an extra bonus when this wonderful rainbow stretched out across the eastern sky. We didn't notice it was a double rainbow until I looked at the photo.

It's cooled off a bit here today.  It's down to 53 at 8pm.  We have been trying to decide where we are going to head next.  We thought about going back to Texas and Oklahoma leaving this Saturday, but we have decided that we are rushing the trip back north, so we signed up for another month here at Tier Drop.  Our current thinking is that we will leave here in early April and head up to Las Vegas with the RV and stay in Duck Creek RV Park and spend a week with Mom.  Then, we we'll head through Albuquerque to see friends and on up to Cherry Creek State Park by April 22nd.
*Note: this is all subject to change just as the last two years of our life has been..... actually all 44 plus years of our marriage.

Blessings,
Kathy

Wickieup!

Wickieup (not giddy-up) is actually a town we drove through yesterday as we traveled from Mom's in Las Vegas down toward Phoenix. Mom is doing great and we enjoyed our time with her.

We drove past Lake Mead and over the new bridge past Hoover Dam.

The Colorado River

The traffic came to a stand still just out of Vegas and we couldn't tell what was going on.  There were lights flashing and then we saw a Helicopter take off and go right over our heads.  It didn't look like an accident, but maybe a hiker that got into trouble or some kind of medical emergency.  We prayed that everyone would be OK as they reopened the road and we drove on after just a few minutes of waiting.

The Taylors and Robinson's were camping in Wickenburg for the big Rodeo that was in town.  They had a "smorgasbord" of food for us for lunch.  We hope to meet up with them again in March.  It was fun to be able to visit with them for a while and catch up on their camping stories and then we headed on down the road to Mesa, AZ.

We drove across the north side of Phoenix near Sun City.  We lived in Glendale, AZ while Craig was still stationed in the USAF at Luke AFB and it's amazing to me how the area has grown!

We drove past the stadium where this year's Super Bowl was held.  The traffic got a little busy going around here and I was glad that we were in the car and not in the Motorhome!

Midge and Ray are friends with us and with Mom and they are spending a month in Mesa at a nice park.  We stopped in to visit with them since we didn't get to see them in Las Vegas.  We had a great visit and some goodie snacks and headed on down the road to complete the loop back to Wellton, AZ and Tier Drop RV Park where we'll be until March 7th.

We drove into the sunset and on into dark as we traveled just at 500 miles for the day.

It's always fun to "go home", even if it is one on wheels.

Blessings,
Kathy
