We spent 80 days in Cherry Creek State Park as Volunteers so we would be able to stay and spend some time with our daughter, Tana, and her family. We sure enjoyed that time and had the plus of seeing Craig's two brothers and their wives and also many friends. We weren't able to see everyone that we would have liked to. We hope to make up for that the next time we are in Colorado.
We had another buck come by to say good-bye and this little squirrel was glad to get a bite of my lunch that we ate down by the lake.

We pulled out of the park after saying good-bye to the other Volunteers on Wed. morning. We headed south on I 25. We had planned to go over the Rockies, but there was already snow falling and cold and wet weather predicted.
It was cool, but sunny and once we got through traffic in South Denver we went through Castle Rock.
It was pretty going over Raton Pass
Once you come over the top of the pass, you enter New Mexico. It's a stunning view as the valley comes into view.
We drove through Las Vegas, New Mexico and on through Santa Fe before we stopped for the night in San Felipe at a small Casino RV Parking Lot.
We woke up to bright sun and our last day in the Mountain time zone for a while.
We saw this horse standing so still, we thought it wasn't real until he took a few steps forward. He must have been enjoying the view from up there. As we came into Albuquerque we could see the Balloons launching for another day of the Festival.
We actually turned back east for a few miles on I 40 so we could stop by and see an old friend who has been pretty sick. Charlie had fallen a couple days before and broke his nose and sprained his wrist. He has had kidney failure twice and has COPD. He had also been in a car wreck on Monday. He jokingly said, "This was a week of evil". We spent some time visiting and had prayer and he had to make a doctor appointment, so we got back into the RV that we had parked out at the curb and headed back west on I 40.
I 40 has some wonderful scenery. It's part of the old Route 66. I couldn't help but think about all the old westerns that were filmed in the Wild West.
The area around Gallup New Mexico has beautiful Red Rock formations and we also passed by the Petrified Forest National Park. It's pretty amazing that the dessert area once had large trees.
We hope to enjoy a drive down through Show Low tomorrow and stop to see friends in Arizona City. We haven't been through that part of Arizona since we lived in Glendale and vacationed with the Norsworthy family in the White Mountains.
We should just have one more day of travel after tomorrow before we reach our winter resting place in Wellton, AZ. We are looking forward to seeing our friends there on Saturday night!!!
Our prayer tonight is that the Hurricane will go back out to sea and go away without causing too much damage.
Blessings,
Kathy
