Balsum Bay Resort, Remer, Minnesota

There are many things that we like about coming to Minnesota. I thought I would just share some of them.

We love catching and eating fish.

Jeff rode up with us and stayed for a few days before flying back to Indiana.  Walleye are the fish we most like to eat, and so far, Jeff caught the most with some bigger ones at 4 and 5 pounds.

The Northern Pike are plentiful and we caught some that were close to 7 pounds.

This is our first time to camp at Balsum Bay on Big Sand Lake near Remer, Minnesota.  The campsites are nice and shady. We have had a couple of pretty warm days, but for the most part, it's been cool and windy with day temps in the 70's and 50's at night.  Very nice for sleeping.

This is a bass which are fun to catch because they strike hard and usually jump out of the water several times during the retrieval.

We have so enjoyed the eagles around the lake.  We have seen at least seven different ones.

The sky, water and clouds seem more three dimensional here.

We have been watching the baby loon learning how to stay close to mom and is now beginning to dive down and fish on it's own.

My older brother, Bob and his wife, Pam, live in Pine River. We went to visit with them and we also did some shopping.  This is a wolf carving that was sitting in the back of the truck.

There's a very nice heated pool in the Resort.

We walk this path down to the boat docks.  We have to rent a boat and motor.

Bob and Pam drove over one day to visit for awhile.  We are meeting them today in Walker for lunch.  It's been nice to have time to visit and catch up with them.

View from our front window.

We have enjoyed some fish meals.  This is a Pike and a Walleye.

 We just enjoy the outdoors!

When the larger fish aren't biting, there are plenty of pan fish to catch.  We filleted these 2 perch, 4 crappie and 4 bluegill.

Our time is up here on Saturday, July 2nd.  We have been praying about direction from here.  We may have an opening to Work-camp back at Cherry Creek State Park in Colorado by our daughter's family. We are waiting for news on when they want us to start, but it could be as soon as we can get there.

We are thankful for this time of fun, fishing and refreshing here the past two weeks.

Blessings,
Kathy
