Virtual RV Tour

Today it rained off and on.  Craig and Tana had lunch with Craig's work office people and I took a view videos of the "belly of the whale".  We removed the uncomfortable jack knife bench seat and found two small chairs and foot stool.

Tana and family had us over for dinner tonight and it was very hard to say good-bye.  Yep, this is our last night in Aurora, CO.  Tomorrow, once rush hour calms down a bit, and if it's not raining too hard, we plan to head over the Rockies.  We wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to travel the 772 miles.  We'll stay in an RV Park that's about 15 minutes from Dad and Mom.  Dad is to have cataract surgery on Monday and Mom will need our help to get him there.  He is very weak and sleeps most of the time, but his vision has become so pour that he really can't see much at all.  The Hospice People have approved to have the surgery done.  We are hopeful that it will boost his spirits and help him to be able to at least see TV again.

If you go to my first few blogs, you will see that we started from Colorado on May 3rd and first drove to Price, Utah to see my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins.  From there we went to Vegas.  So, we feel we have completed the first major loop of this journey and now we plan to stay with my folks for as long as they need us to.  We really have no plan beyond that point.  We do know that the Lord knows and that He will reveal it in due time.

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength and they shall mount up with wings as eagles."

Thinking of friends and families that had their lives so drastically changed on 9/11/01.  My prayers go out for you!!

From 90 to 70 in 24

We started out Monday with reorganizing The Whale a bit.  We need to take more over to the storage unit and make a little more room.  We had lunch with Craig's 2 brothers and their wives.  We always enjoy the gatherings, but the time goes by too quickly.

Brothers - Chuck, Craig and Jim

Sisiters-in-law - Lynne, Pudge and Kathy

We also attended Carter and Kyra's track meet yesterday afternoon.  The temp was 90 yesterday at the church picnic, but during the Meet the temp dropped and the winds blew, we all froze as it went down to 70.... it felt like 55.

Kyra high jumped 3' 11", her 4x2 came in first and she was 3rd in the 200.

Carter got 1st in the 200, his 4x2 came in 1st and he also ran the 800, but it was right after being anchor in the 4x2 and he was pretty exhausted and still did a great job.

We stopped by Chuck and Pudge's to see how their new garden project is going and it looks great.  We also had a chance to warm up and bit before heading back home (the State Park).  The clouds made it look like snow was coming and it felt a bit that way, too.

Clouds over Cherry Creek Reservoir

We are beginning to "get it together" to head down the road to Las Vegas.  Dad is scheduled for cataract surgery on the 16th.  We will probably drive back through the Rockies because it's shorter than the southern route, but we also hope to not run into rain/snow.
Have a great day!!

Hot Fun in the Summertime

We are enjoying our time in Colorado.  Craig's two brothers live in the area along with our daughter and her family of 6.  They spent the night with us last night.  It was a combination of tent camping and RV facilities and electricity for them.

They were trying out a new tent.
Grandpa set up a scavenger hunt that was fun.

We ate a simple lunch, but food always tastes good when you eat outside.  I may be the only one in this group that feels that way.

It was pretty hot during the mid day and Collin had a football game at 3pm, so they spent some time in the air conditioning using the electronics.

Collin's team won their second game after loosing their first game last week.  It was about 95 degrees during game.

Collin is a natural.

We attended church this morning with family and then attended a church picnic.  We came back to the RV, took a nap and have been watching some Sunday night football.... I think it's the first time we have done this in the Whale.

We had a little rain and then a rainbow tonight.

Tomorrow, we are having lunch with brothers and sister-in-laws in Denver.  So, looking forward to visiting with them.

Here's a quiet moment to share with you:

Track Meet

Two of Tana's kids had their first track meet for the Middle School.

Carter is in 8th Grade

Kyra is in 7th Grade

They both had a pretty good first ever track meet.

Carter ran a relay and the 200 Dash

Kyra did the long jump, high jump and a relay.

It was a hot day and dark clouds threatened a storm, but they provided a nice relief from the hot sun.  We made it through the meet before we actually had a small sprinkling.

I'll post some videos of the events on Facebook.

Cherry Creek State Park

We enjoyed our stay in front of Tana and Barry's house, but the HOA's don't allow you to stay more than 72 hours in most neighborhoods.  We had booked a 2 week stay in Cherry Creek State Park and we moved there today.  This is where we began our RV life on April 24th of this year.  At that time it snowed on us and was very cold.  Today is much different.  It's in the 80's and sunny and then cools off very nicely in the evenings.

Our campsite

Craig cooked for us tonight on the new grill that we got from Jeff. It worked great!!

Today while Craig and his helper, Kyra, worked on building new leveling stair steps, I washed and waxed the Whale and the Tale.  They were overdue for some TLC.

The new step levelers.

Neighbors across the street.

A beautiful Colorado afternoon.

Our internet works pretty good here, along with our cell phones and TV antennae.  So, we are good to go for a couple of weeks.  We hope to visit friends and family and do some putzie jobs on the RV and maybe find a comfy seat for the living area.

Hope you didn't have to labor too hard on this Labor Day!

Enjoying Colorado

We are getting rested up, cooled off and healed up.  We have been in Aurora, CO, parked in front of Tana's house for 3 days.  Saturday we watched Collin play football.  They lost their first game, but he scored a TD and they played a tough team.

Yesterday we attended church, ate lunch out and worked on Barry's hot tub leak.  After a nice dinner, we headed to Barry's Uncle Wayne's home to watch the delayed 4th of July fireworks.  There was a fire ban on, so they couldn't have their normal city fireworks, but it was a perfect night to watch right from Wayne's driveway.

The ride over to Lone Tree let us watch a beautiful evening sky.

Labor Day Fireworks

It was a great fireworks display!  We even had to wear light jackets because it was cool.

Today we move over to the Cherry Creek State Park.  It's where this all began this past April.  It was cold and snowy when we first moved into the RV, so this should be a much better experience.

Happy Labor Day!!

Ups and Downs

WoMAN down

Our Grand Daughter, Kristen Collins (Jeff's) after her first High School Cross Country Meet this past Tuesday.  This picture made the paper.  It was SO hot.  I don't know how any of them even finished, but the team missed 1st place by 1 point in the invitational.
We spent the night at an RV park so we could plug in and use the air.  We REALLY needed that.

Sun was up

Tire was down
It was not a good way to start out the day.  It was one of the new back dual tires, so we had to drive 20 miles where they put on a new tire.
We crossed from Iowa to Nebraska.  Traffic was not terrible, but there was a steady flow.

We traveled I80 and stopped at a rest area and saw this Memorial.
This was also at the same rest stop. Who knew?
This is part of the Great Platte Basin
The Archway Museum

We were greeted by this awesome looking sky and a little rain as we got close to Aurora, CO.

We drove past the Arapahoe Race Track.  This is where one of Jan Hortyk's horses race once in awhile.

We are settled in front of Tana's and we have had fun catching up with the kids and grandkids.  Poor Barry just got home from work and I think we are all about ready to go to bed.
