Who Has More Fun than People

I'm a bit hoarse today after all the visiting we have done this week. It's been wonderful to see everyone!

Kathy, Debbie, Cindy and Denise

It's always great to reconnect with old friends as we travel.  These are some of my BFF buddies. We all met in Valpo on Friday for a nice Mexican lunch.

Friday night was a pre-gathering of Craig's Classmates for his 50th Reunion.  The picture below is of Ron and Craig.  Ron was friends with my brother, Bob and with Craig in grade school.  Ron was also a Groomsman in our Wedding.

Below is Don Carnahan and my cousin Dan Petrovich.

There was an unusual sunset as we drove back to the campground in Cedar Lake.

We started Saturday morning with getting some help from our two sons, Todd and Jeff on a few projects around the RV.  We started out with some eggs for breakfast followed by a piece of warmed Rhubarb Pie that Denise had made for us.  That was goooood.  Don't worry, we didn't use the hot sauce on the pie.

Three heads are better than one when it came to coming up with a way to change out some light fixture to work with LED bulbs.

There was barely room for Craig and Jeff to work on a small leak in the shower drain.  That turned into quite a project, but after nearly losing his breakfast over the smell in the old P-trap, Jeff conquered the leak.
We so appreciated the help in figuring out what to do with several plaquing issues we had been working on since buying the Class A in March.

We had lunch with my three aunts and my cousin and his wife.  It was a nice time of catching up.

Three sisters:  Pearl (94), Marcella (90) and Rosemary (88).

We got back to the Motorhome in time to rest a bit and then get ready to head to the dinner and dance for the actual 50th Class Reunion.

We had a very nice time at the Reunion.  Saw so many old classmates and so many that we had NO idea of who they were.  Ha. They brought together the classes of 63, 64, 65 and 66.  It was a large turnout of around 250.  I'm hoping someone will post pictures of the reunion since I didn't even take one.

I took this picture Sunday morning of one of the many statues that have been placed around Crown Point.  I understand they are here just for a season and then will move on to somewhere else.  I took this because it was Craig's Grandpa Collins that was the Mason who designed and built the original concrete curbing around the courthouse.

Crown Point is the County Seat, but the "new" courthouse is now north of town.  This old one has been restored and kept beautiful by the Crown Point residents.

We attended church today and had lunch with friends and we have spent the rest of the day resting our bodies and voices so we will be ready for the events of this coming week.

Blessings,
Kathy

What's Been Happening in Crown Point, Indiana?

The weather has taken a turn for the better.  We have actually had a few days without rain.  We saw some very interesting cloud formation, though.

It was so much fun to visit with our good friends, Jim and Marie.  We miss our family vacation trips fishing together.

Craig cleaned the roof of the Motorhome and then replaced the vent covers.  We also worked with Jeff at the churches he overseas.

Craig's family owned this home for over 100 years.  We have lived in it a couple of times during our married life, too.  There was a fire that burned the huge garage to the ground.

Below is where the garage used to be.  Craig and I painted the whole thing one year.

Old Garage location ready for the new.

Craig grew up with his parents and two brothers in the house next door.  The new owners have added a big porch on the back.

We had a really nice visit with our friends Larry and Sandy a couple of nights ago.  Sandy has her paintings all around their nice home.

We drove up to Midway Airport today and picked up my Mom who flew in from Las Vegas.  She will stay in Crown Point with her sister, Rosie for a couple of weeks.
Thanks to Ray and Midge for picking her up early this morning, shutting off things around her house and getting her to the airport!

Aunt Rosie had a nice dinner for us when we got in from the Airport and afterwards, we drove to Jeff's favorite fishing hole and caught a few fish with our two boys.

Craig with a crappie.

Kathy and Jeff with fish caught at the same time.

Craig with a nice bass.  We release all of the fish that we catch.  Some before they ever get to the boat.  Ooooopppsssss.

Todd caught some bass, too.

Jeff ran the boat and trolling motor and still managed to catch the most fish.  Thanks for a fun night out, Jeff.  The weather was nearly perfect.

We are worn out and ready for bed.  I'm sure we won't have any trouble sleeping tonight.

Tomorrow I will get to see some of my best friends.  It doesn't get any better than that! Friday and Saturday nights we will attend Craig's 50th High School Class Reunion.

Blessings,
Kathy

Green, Green all Around

We have been enjoying our time here in Cedar Lake, Indiana.  It continues to rain on a regular basis so everything is much more green than what is normal for this late in the season.
We go for walks along the north shore of the lake.

The little guy below didn't think we saw him because he was sitting so still.  Thanks for the still shot.

We happened to run into Bob who is the Ministry Director and he gave us a tour of the new Activities Building.  Things are so nice now on the grounds and they host many church group activities.

This is our grandson, Ty.  He is standing on a pile of dirt on the lot that Jeff and Rachel have purchased and will be building on.

We have been helping my Aunt with a few projects and we are spending some time with our two boys and the 3 grandkids here.
I don't believe we will lack for things to do or people to see.

I had a wonderful time at lunch with my old friend yesterday while Craig and Jeff installed a battery backup sump pump!

Today the temp has gone up to 90 and the humidity has to be higher, still.

Blessings,
Kathy

Home Town Area

The sun was shining this morning and continued to do so all the way up to NW Indiana.

The country side turns a bit flat up this way.

Crown Point is just off of I 65.

There are still flood warnings out in the area.
It's been nearly a year since we were here in Crown Point, Indiana.  We have many friends and family here including our two sons, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren.
We came into Merrillville, the town just north of CP, where we were looking for some help with a rattle and a small leak in our Motorhome's windshield.
Our oldest son, Todd, met us at the windshield place and we had breakfast together while we waiting for them to diagnose what the windshield needed.
Todd

We had a nice visit and breakfast with Todd, but the windshield place couldn't really do anything to help our issues.  It's too risky  and they could break one or both of the double front windows trying to put in more caulk.  They assured us that is was just from a stretched out seal around the window, but it's safe to drive that way.  So, I guess we'll just live with that.

Cedar Lake is a town just south and west of Crown Point.  We found a small RV park that is a part of the Cedar Lake Ministries that we have stayed in a few times before.  We were able to get into our reserved spot a day early.

They have had so much rain that the ground is pretty squishy, but it's high enough away from the lake that we don't have to worry about getting flooded out.  We plan to stay here for a month.
That sounds good to both of us after all of the traveling we have done since we left Las Vegas on Tuesday, June 23.

Our second son, Jeff, works as the Facilities Director for Bethel Church and he overseas four campuses.  They have one just a few minutes from our campground, so after we set up, we drove over to see what Jeff has been overseeing.

Jeff and Craig

They have added on to an old church and it's a huge new building.

This is the rear of the church.

They contracted out most of the work, but Jeff built this garage.

It makes for a very nice facility for Cedar Lake Bethel.

There are so many people that we want to see.  Hoping to see the grandkids yet tonight before two of them head off out of town.

Blessings,
Kathy
